We benefit from a very low threat of seismic activity and weather in the region is relatively moderate and not prone to extremes. We are blessed with plenty of sunshine — more than 300 days of sun a year — which we take full advantage of via an expansive array of PV (photovoltaic) solar panels on the roof of our facility. Summer days in the High Desert are not too hot and they’re invariably followed by pleasant cool evenings, helping the Vault to deliver an affordable and virtually unparalleled level of energy-efficient cooling.
From the very beginning, our goal has been to establish the highest “green” credentials for the Vault. Our aim is to become one of the few data centers in the nation, and certainly the first in Oregon, to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. In addition to leveraging the abundant solar energy, we have also invested in innovative, energy-efficient KytoCooling systems.
